Sampson records eighth straight win

Padres' No. 16 prospect whiffs six in seven shutout innings

Padres' No. 16 prospect Keyvius Sampson (10-4) allowed four hits and a walk while striking out six in seven innings to earn the win in San Antonio's 1-0 blanking of Frisco. The 22-year-old right-hander has won eight straight decisions and is 6-0 with a 1.24 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 58 innings over his last 10 appearances.

Top Yankees prospect Gary Sanchez doubled and drove in a run in Trenton's 4-3 victory over Reading. The 20-year-old catcher also threw out a runner attempting to steal second in his Double-A debut. Sanchez hit .254/.313/.420 in 362 at-bats for Tampa in the Florida State League.

Astros' No. 10 prospect Domingo Santana hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning to give Corpus Christi a 2-1 victory over Midland. The right fielder had gone hitless in four at-bats until he ended the game and earned the win for Pat Urckfitz (6-3), who gave up a hit and fanned one in two scoreless frames.

Ryan Vogelsong (2-0) gave up a run on five hits and fanned five to earn the win in Richmond's 8-3 defeat of New Hampshire. The Giants right-hander is working his way back from a fractured right hand suffered in May.

Tigers' No. 4 prospect Daniel Fields smacked three singles and drove in three runs in Erie's 9-5 win over New Britain. Eugenio Suarez, the club's No. 5 prospect, drove in four runs on a pair of singles.

Theo Bowe tripled, scored the winning run and added an RBI in Pensacola's 4-3 victory at Birmingham. The left fielder also stole his ninth base of the season. Bowe's teammate Devin Lohman doubled twice and reached base four times.
