Walker posts five shutout innings

Top M's prospect hurls shutout ball for first time since July 1

Top Mariners prospect Taijuan Walker scattered three hits over five shutout innings in Tacoma's 3-1 win over Colorado Springs in the Pacific Coast League on Tuesday. Walker struck out six and walked four and improved to 4-3 with a 3.86 ERA in Triple-A. The win was his first scoreless outing since July 1. 

The Rainiers pitching staff took a scoreless streak of 23 innings into the ninth.

Tim Wheeler, the Rockies' No. 10 prospect, knocked in the lone run for the Sky Sox.

Billy Hamilton notched his 120th and 121st hits of the season in Lousville's 5-1 win at Rochester. The Reds' top prospect also had an RBI, a run scored, a walk and his 72nd stolen base.

Greg Reynolds throw a complete game for the Bats, allowing one run on five hits. Reynolds (12-3) struck out four without walking anybody. He's second in the International League in wins, and his 2.42 ERA is behind only the 2.41 mark set by Indianapolis' Kris Johnson.

Brooks Raley scattered three hits and struck out six over eight innings in Iowa's 3-0 win over New Orleans. Raley is 8-9 with a 4.15 ERA.

Brad Nelson homered for the second time in three games, and No. 5 Cubs prospect Mike Olt hit safely for the second consecutive day after going hungry for five games.

Sam Dyson permitted two hits and a walk while striking out four over seven scoreless innings for the Zephyrs.

No. 9 Tigers prospect Hernan Perez collected three hits, walked and scored a run in Toledo's 5-0 win against Gwinnett. Perez is hitting .412 and has a base knock in every tilt since coming to the IL eight games ago.

Kyle Lobstein (4-3) gave up five hits and struck out six over 6 1/3 innings. Mud Hens hurlers didn't allow a walk over the course of the game.

Sean Gilmartin, the Braves' No. 4 prospect, struck out six in four innings, but he gave up four runs on seven hits and fell to 3-8 with a 5.63 ERA.

Nick Additon gave up two hits and two walks and struck out seven over seven innings in Memphis' 4-0 win over Omaha. The Cardinals farmhand is 9-7 with a 4.10 ERA.

After driving in four runs Monday, Jamie Romak homered, singled and scored twice.

No. 14 Royals prospect John Lamb held the Redbirds to three runs over six innings, picking up a pair of strikeouts, but he took the loss. He's 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA.
