Sosa promoted to Class A South Bend

Left-hander pitched for two seasons in Missoula
August 9, 2009
The Missoula Osprey and Arizona Diamondbacks announced today that left-handed pitcher Keny Sosa has been promoted from Missoula to the South Bend SilverHawks (Class A).

Sosa, who made two limited-innings starts for the SilverHawks before the Osprey opened their season, was a mainstay in the Missoula starting rotation in 2009. In nine starts, Sosa posted a 2-2 record with a 5.31 ERA. Sosa also spent the entire 2008 season with the Osprey, seeing time both as a starter and reliever last season.

Sosa pitched seven hitless innings in his two starts at South Bend, then went six innings, allowing four hits and an unearned run in his first start for the Osprey, a 4-1 win in the home opener against Helena on June 26. Sosa did not pick up another win until his last start, when he allowed a run on three hits in five innings of work in a 12-2 win over the Brewers on August 3.

The Osprey have also announced that Charles Brewer (5-0, 1.59 ERA) will take Sosa's spot in the starting rotation. Brewer will make his first start for the Osprey in Saturday's series finale at Great Falls.

The Osprey will return home for a seven-game homestand beginning Monday, August 10. Tickets for any remaining Osprey home game this season can be obtained by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, stopping by the Osprey Team Store at 412 W. Alder, or ordering online at www.missoulaosprey.com.
