National Anthem Auditions Scheduled for March 6 & 19

February 17, 2014

CHARLESTON, SC - If you've ever had a desire to sing or play the National Anthem prior to a Charleston RiverDogs game at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, now is the time to step up to the plate. We want to hear you!

The Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees will host auditions for those wishing to perform the Star Spangled Banner on Thursday, March 6, from 4-7 pm and Wednesday, March 19, also from 4-7 pm, behind home plate at Riley Park. If inclement weather persists on both days, the rain date for the auditions is slated for Monday, March 24 from 4-7pm.

Whether you are a talented vocalist or can play the Star Spangled Banner via instrument, patrons are invited to perform our National Anthem in whatever manner you choose ... as long as it is patriotic and respectable.

The RiverDogs have 70 home games during the 2014 season, which begins Monday, April 7, when the Greenville Drive come to Riley Park for a 7:05 pm first pitch. The RiverDogs have a minimum number of available opportunities for performing the National Anthem.

"This is one of our more popular events of our off-season, and reminds us all that the baseball season is fast approaching," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "Our National Anthem tryouts always draw a large number of talented individuals and groups. We appreciate their interest, and we're looking forward to the tryouts. It is sure to be an exciting event."

Auditions are open to performers of all kinds and ensembles of nine or less. Groups of 10 or more are asked to partake in the RiverDogs Group Anthem Program. Information on the Group Anthem Program can be found by CLICKING HERE.

This year, everyone is asked to audition regardless of whether they have performed at a game in previous seasons or not. Those interested in auditioning must fill out an audition form by CLICKING HERE. Forms must be filled out and submitted prior to the audition day.

Please note that by auditioning, a spot is not guaranteed. Also, being chosen for the Audition Pool does not guarantee a game due to the overwhelming popularity and strength of performers in the area. In the past, the RiverDogs have routinely had more qualified performers than available game dates.
