Syracuse Drops Durham In Series Opener, 8-4

Casali Picks Up 2 Hits in AAA Debut

Syracuse, NY --- The Durham Bulls couldn't overcome an early seven-run deficit and dropped their series opener against the Syracuse Chiefs 8-4 on Monday night.

Matt Andriese (L, 1-3) lasted 3 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs and was knocked out in the fourth inning when the Chiefs (15-15) sent 10 to the plate.

Trailing 7-0 in the fifth, the Bulls (20-12) pulled back into the game with four in the fifth, highlighted by a bases loaded double by Vince Belnome.

Curt Casali went 2-3 with a ground rule double in the fourth inning in making his Triple-A debut.

Jeff Beliveau and Adam Liberatore combined to throw 3 1/3 scoreless innings. Infielder Robby Price was forced to throw the eighth inning, surrendering a home run to Steven Souza.

The series continues on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM ET with Nathan Karns (2-2, 8.20) opposing Omar Poveda (1-3, 8.17).
