August 25, 2014

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The International League office has awarded Gwinnett Braves first baseman Joey Terdoslavich with Batter of the Week honors for the period of August 18-24. Terdoslavich has won the award for the second time this season, as he was also named IL Batter of the Week for April 21-27.

Terdoslavich, 25, batted .385 (10-for-26) with five home runs, nine runs scored and nine RBIs in seven games from August 18-24. On August 21, he became the first player in Gwinnett Braves franchise history to homer in five straight games, belting a solo shot off Charlotte's Andre Rienzo in the G-Braves' 10-6 win at Coolray Field.

After hitting .256 (87-for-340) with seven homers and 35 RBIs during the first half of the season, Terdoslavich has found his power swing after the All-Star Break. In 37 games, he's batting .262 (37-for-141) with eight homers and 21 RBIs. He currently ranks among IL leaders in games played (1st, 130), walks (6th, 60), at-bats (7th, 481), runs scored (T-15th, 61), home runs (T-18th, 15) and hits (19th, 124).

Including the two awards for Terdoslavich, Gwinnett batters have claimed the IL Batter of the Week accolades four times in 2014. Former G-Braves first baseman Ernesto Mejia (April 3-6) and current Atlanta Braves infielder Phil Gosselin (July 7-13) have also won the award this season.

Terdoslavich and the Gwinnett Braves continue their road trip as they conclude a four-game series with the Durham Bulls tonight at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Right-hander Terry Doyle (3-3, 3.30) will start for the G-Braves, while the Bulls will start right-hander Matt Andriese (11-7, 3.76). Tony Schiavone has the play-by-play call at 6:50 PM on WDUN.com, GwinnettBraves.com, Tune-In Radio and the MiLB First Pitch app.

The G-Braves return to Coolray Field on Tuesday, August 26 for a 6:35 PM game against Durham. Tickets are on sale now at the Coolray Field Ticket Office, call 678-277-0340 or visit GwinnettBraves.com to purchase.
