Guerrero Starts Strong, But Barons Drop Sixth Straight

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A four run bottom of the eighth inning for the Chattanooga Lookouts broke open a pitchers' duel in Tennessee on Monday night. Leading 2-0 heading into the inning, the Lookouts struck for four, giving them the insurance they needed in a 6-0 victory over the Barons.
It only took Chattanooga two batters to get on the board in the first inning against Birmingham starter Jordan Guerrero. Nick Gordon led off the bottom of the first with a triple down the left field line and then came around to score on a sac fly from Edgar Corcino, who has six RBIs during the first three games this series.

Guerrero would lock in from there, allowing only one more run over the course of his seven inning outing, on a fourth inning sac fly off the bat of Travis Harrison. The lefty navigated his way through the Lookouts' lineup, giving up four hits and striking out nine, to raise his Southern League leading total to 59.
But the Barons could not scratch any runs across in support of Guerrero. LeBlanc worked his way in and out of trouble over the course of his six inning outing. The Barons put runners on in all six innings against LeBlanc, but could not bring any home. 
Cameron Seitzer had the best opportunity for the Barons, coming up with runners at first and third and two outs in the third, but was retired on a groundout in front of home plate to end the inning.
With the Barons looking to stay close late, Chattanooga put up four insurance runs in the eighth inning off of relievers Scott Snodgress and Jake Dunning. 
Randy Rosario threw three strong innings out of the bullpen for his first save of the season to back up LeBlanc, who moved to 2-1 with the win. 
Jake Peter, Nick Basto and Mason Robbins led the Barons bats with two hits a piece. Guerrero dropped to 0-5 on the season with the loss. 
The Barons will be back in action against the Chattanooga Lookouts tomorrow evening at 6:15 p.m. CT. Right hander Spencer Adams (1-5, 4.10) will take the ball for the Barons, while Nik Turley (0-1, 0.44) will toe the slab for Chattanooga.
