After losing on Mega Bash to the Palm Beach Cardinals, the Jupiter Hammerheads also drop Wednesday’s contest 6-4 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

The Cardinals scored early to take a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning. Aaron McKeithan put the Beach Birds on the board with an RBI single.

Jupiter would tie up the game at one in the fifth, when Osiris Johnson drove in Jorge Caballero. However, Palm Beach answered back with a sole run in the sixth to regain the lead.

Both clubs would score a pair of runs in the seventh. For the Hammerheads, Johnson would earn another RBI with a sharp single. The Marlins No. 22 overall prospect now holds 27 RBIs on the season with Jupiter. Carlos Santiago would also pick up an RBI after driving in Angeudis Santos. The Hammerheads starting third basemen on the night made it a 4-3 game going into the 8th frame.

Palm Beach would add an insurance run before Zach Zubia connected for his seventh home run of the season. The University of Texas alum’s solo shot to left field traveled 393 feet, but wasn’t enough for Jupiter to complete the comeback.

On the mound, Luis Palacios got the start for Jupiter. The lefty continued to impress and allowed just one run through 4.2 innings. The Venezuelan added to his eight Ks to his team-leading strikeout total and now has 75 on the season.

In relief, the Hammerheads utilized Yoilan Quinonez, Joey Steele, and Jake Schrand out of the bullpen. Each of them picked up two strikeouts a piece. As a whole, Jupiter’s pitching staff struck out 14 batters on the night.

The Duel of the Dean rages on Thursday night at RDCS. Tickets are still available here as the ballpark hosts another Thirsty Thursday!
