TAMPA, Fla. (April 27, 2018) - Nathaniel Lowe crushed two home runs, picking up four hits and six RBI Friday night, leading the Charlotte Stone Crabs to a 10-4 win over the Tampa Tarpons.
Lowe is now hitting .390 through his first 21 games, connecting on four home runs and driving in 21 runs.
The Stone Crabs wasted no time getting the offense rolling against Tampa starter Michael King (0-1). Josh Lowe singled to right with one out before stealing second. Two batters later, Nate Lowe singled to left to score his brother and make it 1-0 Charlotte. After a Peter Maris single, David Rodríguez smacked an RBI double to the wall in center to bring in Nate Lowe and give the Stone Crabs a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the second, Kevin Padlo reached on an error before Lucius Fox singled him to second with one out. Josh Lowe then blooped a ground rule double down the left field line to make it 3-0. After Fox scored on a groundout to extend the lead to 4-0, Nate Lowe clobbered a two-run home run to right to cap the inning with an 6-0 lead in hand.
Lowe drove in another run with a ground rule double in the fourth before Tristan Gray delivered a solo home run in the fifth to make it 8-1 Stone Crabs.
Still up by seven in the top of the sixth, Josh Lowe singled before Nate lined a two-run shot to right for his second home run of the game.
The Tarpons scored three times against the Stone Crabs' bullpen before Curtis Taylor settled things down by working 2.2 scoreless innings.
Charlotte starter Willy Ortiz (2-0) went five innings to get the win, allowing just one run on three hits.
