Marlette, McCreery claim monthly honors

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have announced their selections for players and pitchers of the month for each respected minor league affiliate. Infielder Tyler Marlette and LHP Adam McCreery will take home the honors for the Double-A Mississippi club for the month of May.

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have announced their selections for players and pitchers of the month for each respected minor league affiliate. Infielder Tyler Marlette and LHP Adam McCreery will take home the honors for the Double-A Mississippi club for the month of May.

Marlette, 25, finished the month of May with a .350 batting average (28-for-80) in 24 games played. Marlette's 28 hits are a team best among all M-Braves hitters for the month of May. The M-Braves first baseman finished the month tied with former teammate, Michael Reed as the team's home run leader after collecting four home runs during the month. In addition, Marlette ended the month of May with a .435 on-base percentage, a .575 slugging percentage, a 1.010 on-base plus slugging percentage, 17 runs scored, six doubles, 13 runs batted in, 11 walks, 19 strikeouts and one stolen base. The Oviedo, Florida, native was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the fifth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Paul J. Hagerty High School (Oviedo, Florida). Marlette signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves on December 1, 2017.
McCreery, 25, ended the month of May with a 2-2 record and a 1.46 ERA. In eight relief appearances with the Mississippi Braves in the month of May, the left-hander allowed just nine hits, two runs, both earned, issued six walks and struck out 17 in 12.1 innings pitched. McCreery earned one save in one opportunity and was also credited with one hold for the month. A native of San Dimas, CA, McCreery was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 22nd round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, California). McCreery was acquired by the Atlanta Braves from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for RHP Jhoulys Chacin on May 11, 2016.
