CHARLESTON, W. Va. (June 11, 2019) - The West Virginia Power is excited to announce that Andy McKay, the Seattle Mariners' Director of Player Development, will be the Keynote Speaker at the South Atlantic League's All-Star Luncheon, which will be held June 18 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center at 12 p.m. The Mayor of the City of Charleston, Amy Shuler Goodwin, will also address those in attendance.
McKay will speak in front of the 2019 South Atlantic League All-Star players and coaches, as well as invited league front office executives and members of the media.

"The Mariners are ecstatic to be in the South Atlantic League and West Virginia. The opportunity to speak at this year's All-Star Luncheon is an honor, and I'm looking forward to a great couple of days in Charleston," McKay said.
Hired in October 2015 as the Mariners' new Director of Player Development, McKay has helped navigate the start of Seattle's rebuilding process, highlighted by the trade with the New York Mets last offseason that brought former Power outfielder Jarred Kelenic to the Mariners. As the club's farm director, McKay oversees all six of Seattle's Minor League clubs and their Dominican Republic Academy.
The Sacramento State alumnus joined the Mariners after spending four years with the Colorado Rockies as their Peak Performance Director from August 2012 to October 2015. Prior to joining the professional ranks, McKay was a 14-year head coach at Sacramento City College (1999-2012), as well as the pitching coach for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod League in 1996, the manager of the Anchorage Glacier Pilots of the Alaskan Baseball League in 2006 and of the LaCrosse Loggers of the Northwoods League from 2008-2012.
McKay earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Sacramento State before securing his MBA in 1996. The Sacramento, Calif., native lives with his wife, Anne, and their two children, Hank and Gabrielle.
"We are thrilled to have Andy McKay as our Keynote Speaker at this year's SAL All-Star Luncheon," Power General Manager Jeremy Taylor said. "Several members of our front office had the pleasure of hearing Andy speak at last year's Winter Meetings in Las Vegas, and that speech really resonated with us. We knew he would be the perfect choice for this year's event, and we are very grateful that he is able to come to Charleston and speak with everyone."
Media will be permitted to speak with McKay, as well as the 2019 SAL All-Stars, for a 15-minute window following the luncheon. All media requests should be submitted to David Kahn at [email protected] or Kyle Youmans at [email protected] by June 14.
