Although he may have the thin Rocky Mountain air to thank, homers in four consecutive games for Triple-A New Orleans has Destin Hood emphatically pounding on the door back to the big leagues.
The Marlins' No. 29 prospect launched his 13th roundtripper to move into a tie for the Pacific Coast League lead on Friday as the Baby Cakes dropped a 10-5 loss to Colorado Springs at Security Service Field. Hood added a single to finish 2-for-4 and raise his average to .266 with 36 RBIs in his fourth stint in the Triple-A circuit.

The 27-year-old began the streak in the opener of the series with the Sky Sox on Tuesday. He turned in a two-homer, five-RBI performance the following night and has eight hits -- including five long balls -- in the four-game set.
Unfortunately for Hood, Friday night's game was the Baby Cakes' last at Colorado Springs until August. They return home Saturday to host Oklahoma City. In 24 games at the Shrine on Airline, he has eight homers and 22 RBIs.

Hood he has never totaled more than 15 homers in a season but has nine in his last 12 games, dating back to a May 15 contest against Salt Lake in which he also went deep twice.

Selected by the Nationals in the second round of the 2008 Draft, Hood has made seven trips to the disabled list during stints with Washington, the Indians and Phillies before landing in the Miami organization in 2015.

Hood, who cracked the Marlins' prospect rankings after the season began, was a September callup last year and batted .261 with one homer in 45 games with Miami. He hit .283 with a homer and nine RBIs in 23 Grapefruit League contests but was assigned to New Orleans out of Spring Training this year.
Top-ranked Brewers prospect Lewis Brinson tripled, singled, walked twice and scored three times for Colorado Springs, while No. 10 prospect Brett Phillips homered and drove in three runs. Garrett Cooper went 3-for-3, collected five RBIs and fell a triple shy of the cycle.
