BRADENTON, Fla. - In the penultimate game of the first half of the 2018 Florida State League season, the Clearwater Threshers held on to a late lead despite a run in each of the final innings in a comeback attempt from the Bradenton Marauders. Oddy Nunez was excellent in his no decision on Tuesday night, rifling through six innings of scoreless baseball, only allowing a trio of base hits on an efficient 83 pitches with three strikeouts. Threshers third baseman Luke Williams homered for the second straight night, this time with a three-run shot in the seventh inning to give Clearwater the lead for good. They would add to this lead in the very next inning on a pair of RBI base hits to cap the visitor's scoring at five runs.

Clearwater starter Adonis Medina brought his best stuff in his seventh victory of the year with ten strikeouts, a new season high on 95 pitches. Medina allowed a single run on two doubles in the fourth inning, including an RBI hit for Albert Baur. Jared Oliva drove in a run on a double after Casey Hughston walked with an out in the home half of the eighth inning. Florida State League All-Star Arden Pabst bashed his sixth long ball of the season with two outs in the final inning, but the late effort came up short in a 5-3 loss to move the first half record against Clearwater to 3-2.

In the loss, Jared Oliva and Adrian Valerio both hit their 13th doubles of the season to keep their tie atop the Marauders roster. Pabst's late home run was his first since June 8th, also a late inning homer on a three run bomb in the Marauders biggest comeback of the season, a 10-9 victory.

The Marauders finish their four game set with the Threshers on Wednesday at 10:30 am on a Summer Camp Day with RHP Luis Escobar on the hill for Bradenton and LHP Nick Fanti throwing for the visitors.
