The home run derby continued in the fifth with Odom hitting a solo shot with one out to put Mississippi back out front 4-3. The lead was short lived as Pensacola plated a run in the bottom of the inning when LaValley singled with one out and scored on Alcantara's triple to tie the game again at 4-4.
The score remained tied as the scheduled seventh inning came and went. Mississippi took the lead in the top of the 10th as Demeritte singled to lead off and scored on a throwing error on a slow roller up the third base line by Odom.
