It was another heavenly evening in Iowa on Aug. 9 as Minor League Baseball hosted its first-ever game at the iconic Field of Dreams movie site, showing some of the game's youngest talent at one of its most beloved locations. The memorable afternoon in Dyersville was the first professional game played in the cornfield-encircled ballpark since the dramatic inaugural MLB at Field of Dreams game last summer between the White Sox and Yankees.

The Midwest League's Cedar Rapids Kernels and Quad Cities River Bandits -- both local to Iowa -- met in Dyersville in front of a sold-out stadium wearing throwback uniforms to honor their historical identities from the Shoeless Joe era of the game: Cedar Rapids emerged from the corn as the Bunnies while Quad Cities played as the Davenport Blue Sox. Fans mingled through the illuminated corn maze, soaked in the nostalgia outside the old white farmhouse and sat "in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon." The MiLB game set the stage for MLB's return on Aug. 11 when the Cubs and Reds meet on the same site.

Take a look back at some of our favorite images from the day from MLB Photos photographers Daniel Shirey and Mary DeCicco:
