Cesar Hernandez had a short rehab assignment of just four games with the Clearwater Threshers in 2017, but the middle infielder had an impressive stat line against the Daytona Tortugas on July 16, 2017, drawing six walks in a 13-4 victory at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

The first of the six free passes came in the first at-bat of the contest. The lead-off man walked again in the second, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth innings. The only time Hernandez put the ball in play was in the ninth, resulting in an RBI, infield single.

The Threshers’ offense was aided by six errors by the Tortugas’ defense, resulting in eight unearned runs.

Clearwater took a 5-2 lead into the seventh before breaking the game open with a six-run frame.

Jose Taveras earned his sixth win of the season with two runs allowed over seven innings on six hits and six strikeouts.
