The Barons’ hot streak was halted by the Trash Pandas in the first game of the final series of the first half 9-2.

Sean Burke struggled with his worst career start (1.0+ IP, 7 H, 6 ER, BB, SO.) The 22-year-old gave up two runs in the first inning when Jeremiah Jackson smacked his sixth homer of the season.

Kevin Maitan resumed the Rocket City run barrage with an RBI single in the second inning to score Ryan Aguillar. Maitan went on to score on a Livan Soto single two batters later. Zach Humphreys was the next batter, and the catcher ripped an RBI single himself. Soto scored on a sacrifice fly from Orlando Martinez. When the second inning concluded, the Trash Pandas led 6-0.

Rocket City continued in the third and the fourth with a run in each frame. Kevin Maitan slugged his first triple of the season in the third inning to plate Braxton Martinez. Orlando Martinez scored on Preston Palmeiro’s fourth inning double.

Jose Rodriguez got the Barons on the board with an RBI single in the fifth inning, but Jeremiah Jackson responded for the Trash Pandas right away in the next half inning with his second homer of the night.

Lenyn Sosa hit a solo homer in the eighth inning for his 14th of the season, that ties Craig Dedelow for the Barons lead. That made it 9-2 in favor of Rocket City.

Tomorrow, the Barons send out Scott Blewett (3-2, 4.98) and the Trash Pandas start Mason Erla (1-0, 0.66). First pitch is set for 7:05 CT.
