After Scranton/WB plated a run in the top of the first, the Tides responded in the bottom half of the inning when Heston Kjerstad socked a solo home run over the left field fence. Then in the following at bat, Coby Mayo connected with another solo home run to give Norfolk a 2-0 lead. Mayo tacked on another run in the bottom of the third with another solo shot, marking his first multi-homer game since August 26, 2023 against Durham.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tied up the game in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs before taking a 5-3 lead during the fifth thanks to two straight RBI doubles. The RailRiders added another run in the top of the sixth to give them a 6-3 lead.

Following a one out single by Kjerstad in the bottom of the eighth, Michael Pérez cut the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre lead to 6-4 when he collected an RBI single to drive home Kjerstad.
