IronPigs rally to edge Tides in Wednesday matinee

Yoon does not allow earned run over 5.0 innings

Lehigh Valley rallied with two runs in the eighth and one more in the ninth to walk-off with a 5-4 win over the Tides Wednesday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park. 

Norfolk led the contest 4-2 entering the eighth, but the IronPigs knotted the score against Brad Brach on an RBI double by Tyson Gillies and a run-scoring wild pitch. One inning later, Troy Hanzawa plated Steve Susdorf with a sacrifice fly off of Brock Huntzinger (0-2) to give the IronPigs the win and send Norfolk to its third straight loss. 

Tides starter Suk-min Yoon did not allow an earned run in five innings of work. Yoon yielded two unearned runs in the first inning before shutting out the IronPigs over his final four frames. The 27-year-old walked two and struck out one while throwing 57 of his 87 pitches for strikes. 

Over his last three starts, Yoon has now posted a 2.40 ERA (4 ER, 15.0 IP). 

Cord Phelps hit a solo home run to pace Norfolk's offense, while Brian Ward added an RBI single. David Adams singled twice and scored a run for Norfolk (5-15), which has lost 10 of its last 12 games. 

The two clubs continue their four-game series from Allentown, PA on Thursday night, with first pitch slated for 7:05. Mike Wright (0-0, 1.59) takes the hill for Norfolk against RHP Sean O'Sullivan (0-2, 4.60).

Notes: 17 of Norfolk's first 20 contests have been decided by three runs or less, and the Tides are now 0-8 in one-run games this year...Norfolk has lost eight straight and 12 of its last 14 at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown...Brad Brach struck out four in 1.2 innings of relief, giving him 22 strikeouts in 10.1 innings this season...With two hits Wednesday David Adams has now hit safely in seven of his last eight games with an at-bat, as he's hit .310 (9-for-29) with a home run and two RBI over that span.
