Helmer Named 2023 Texas League Home Clubhouse Attendant of the Year

Naturals Long-time Clubhouse Coordinator earns honor for fourth time

SPRINGDALE, Ark. – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals and Minor League Baseball, are excited to announce the team’s Coordinator of Clubhouse Operations, Danny Helmer, was awarded the Texas League’s 2023 Home Clubhouse Attendant of the Year award. SPRINGDALE, Ark. – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals and Minor League Baseball, are excited to announce the team’s Coordinator of Clubhouse Operations, Danny Helmer, was awarded the Texas League’s 2023 Home Clubhouse Attendant of the Year award.

Helmer, who finished his 25th season with the organization, was honored along with home and visiting attendants from every league in Minor League Baseball. The Bentonville resident has claimed the award four times in his career. He’s also a 2019 co-recipient of the Kansas City Royals’ Matt Minker Award.

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with Danny for over 20 years now,” Naturals Vice President and General Manager Justin Cole said. “I’m thrilled to see him receive this honor, as I can consistently see the day-to-day positive impact he has with the Naturals. Danny is someone who not only cares greatly for the work he does but also cares greatly for the people he works alongside. Congratulations!”

Helmer has worked in numerous roles with the Naturals but started his career with the Wichita Wranglers when he was 14 years old, serving as the team’s bat boy. A University of Oklahoma alum, he’s assisted the Royals with clubhouse operations during their Instructional Leagues and at the Royals Spring Training facilities in Surprise, AZ. He’s also assisted at the Arizona Fall League and worked as the Equipment Manager for Team China at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

“We are pleased to recognize the winners of these awards as they work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide the best possible environment for our players and staffs,” said Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President of Minor League Operations and Development, Peter Woodfork. “Their efforts are appreciated and do not go unnoticed by players and coaches throughout the Minor Leagues.”

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals will open their 2024 season on Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 7:05 p.m. when they will host the Tulsa Drillers (Double-A Los Angeles Dodgers) for Opening Night at Arvest Ballpark.
