Osorio's Late Blast Lifts Tower Buzzers Past Storm in 10-Inning Series Opener

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. —Osorio’s clutch homer in the 10th gave the Ontario Tower Buzzers a wild 9-6 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Tuesday, kicking off their six-game set at The Diamond with a bang.

The afternoon started with all eyes on the mound—one of the Dodgers’ aces, Tyler Glasnow, and Padres’ veteran Joe Musgrove both made rehab appearances, drawing plenty of attention and fans. Glasnow, out since May with back spasms, looked as sharp as ever.

He mowed down seven batters in two scoreless innings and only allowed a single hit, tossing 12 strikes out of 16 pitches before turning things over to Marlon Nieves. Musgrove, coming back from Tommy John surgery, didn’t miss a beat either. He covered 2.2 innings, gave up one run, struck out three, and threw 39 pitches.

After those two left the stage, the bats woke up. Ontario got on the board first in the second inning after Joendry Vargas doubled and eventually came around to score thanks to a wild pitch from Musgrove. The Buzzers added more in the sixth where Vargas doubled again, Easton Shelton got aboard on an error, and Osorio cashed in both runners with a single. Conner O’Neal chipped in an RBI groundout and suddenly it was 4-1 Ontario.

Lake Elsinore refused to fold. The Storm punched right back in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to tie things up. Shelton wasn’t having it, though.. He launched his 33rd homer of the year in the seventh, a two-run shot that also marked his 100th RBI of the season.

But the Storm kept coming. They plated one run in the bottom of the seventh, then tied it in the eighth, making it a 6-6 game heading to extras.

In the 10th, Ontario wasted no time. Brendan Tunink lined an RBI single to put the Buzzers ahead, and Osorio put the game away with a towering two-run blast to right-center—his eighth homer of the season.

Osorio finished the night 3-for-4, knocking in four runs and scoring once. Vargas kept his hot streak alive with three hits, including two doubles. Ko added a pair of hits, and Shelton—besides the homer—scored twice and drove in two. Tunink was everywhere, reaching base three times and swiping a couple bags for good measure.

Ontario didn’t have their best night with men in scoring position, going just 3-for-11, but they made the most of Lake Elsinore’s two errors and zipped around the bases for four steals.

Dailoui Abad was nails in the ninth and picked up the win, setting the table for Ontario’s late rally. Jecsua Liborius slammed the door in the 10th with a perfect frame and two strikeouts, locking up his league-leading 10th save.

The Tower Buzzers will try to keep rolling on Wednesday as the series continues in Lake Elsinore.
