Mata strikes out a career-high 9 batters in a 2-0 win

Portland, Maine - Bryan Mata set new career highs with nine strikeouts and seven innings pitched and helped lead the Sea Dogs (35-35) shutout the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (30-40) 2-0 on Saturday night at Hadlock Field.

Mata (W, 4-6) allowed just one hit - the first batter of the game - over his seven innings while walking five and fanning nine. He also set a new career-high with 103 pitches.
The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a leadoff triple from Jarren Duran and a sac fly from Tommy Joseph off of Joey Murray.
In the second, Brett Netzer led off with a walk and after advancing to third on a hit-and-run single by Jeremy Rivera, Netzer scored on an RBI single by Nick Lovullo to make it a 2-0 Portland lead.
Murray (L, 2-4) was saddled with the loss despite a very good outing. Murray allowed two runs on three hits over seven innings, he walked three and struck out eight.
Durbin Feltman (S, 5) closed out the game with two scoreless innings to earn the save. Feltman allowed two hits and fanned four. 
The Sea Dogs picked up their 16th shutout of the year, Mata and Feltman combined to strike out 13 Fisher Cats' hitters.
