Sea Dogs sweep Trenton with 3-2 win on Thursday

Portland, Maine - Chad De La Guerra broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run on a 3-0 pitch in the sixth inning and the Sea Dogs (52-68) completed a three-game sweep of the Trenton Thunder (65-56) with a 3-2 win on Thursday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

The Sea Dogs and Thunder split their 2018 season series 8-8. The sweep by Portland was their first three-game sweep of Trenton since 2014.
De La Guerra led off the bottom of the sixth and drilled a 3-0 pitch from Nick Green into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in right field for his 12th home run of the season.
Portland added another run in the inning when Austin Rei drew a bases-loaded walk from James Reeves to extend the lead to 3-1.
Daniel McGrath (W, 2-3) went a season-high six innings and earned his first quality start of the year. The Aussie allowed one run on three hits while walking two and striking out four.
Green (L, 0-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits in 5+ innings in his Double-A debut. He walked two and fanned one.
The Sea Dogs scored quickly off of Green with a two-out RBI single by Luke Tendler in the bottom of the first inning. Trenton tied the game in the second on an RBI double by Jorge Saez.
Harrison Cooney came on in the seventh inning and worked two innings of relief. He allowed a solo home run to Jhalen Jackson in the eighth but exited with the 3-2 lead intact.
Adam Lau earned his second save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
The Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate) on Friday night at Hadlock Field, first pitch is 7:00 PM. RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (7-10, 4.38) takes on RHP Luis Escobar (3-0, 5.33). Radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network. MiLB.TV starts at 6:55 PM.
