Mike Moustakas Elected to Naturals Hall of Fame
SPRINGDALE, AR - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals proudly announce that Mike Moustakas, a member of the 2010 Naturals and current Kansas City Royals third baseman, has been elected as the third inductee into the Naturals Hall of Fame.
Moustakas, the second overall pick in the 2007 June Amateur Draft joins fellow 2010 teammate Clint Robinson and former Manager Brian Poldberg as members of the Naturals Hall of Fame. The Chatsworth, California native earned the honor over current Royals teammates Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez, as well as former 2008 Natural and Texas League Player of the Year Kila Ka-aihue.
During the 2010 season, Moustakas played 66 games with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals and hit 21 home runs with 76 runs batted in, and a .347 batting average. The offensive output earned him several awards including: MiLB.com Organization All-Star, Texas League Player of the Year, Sporting News Minor League Hitter of the Year, as well as becoming a two time Texas League Player of the Week, Mid-Season and Post-Season Texas League North Division All-Star selections, and received a selection to the 2010 Futures Game.
He made is Major League debut with the Kansas City Royals on June 10, 2011. He hit five (5) home runs throughout the Kansas City Royals 2014 postseason run, a Royals franchise record, including the game winner in the top of the 11th inning of Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim.
