The Sacramento River Cats took a 9-4 decision over the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday night at Smith’s Ballpark. The win gave Sacramento a split of the six-game series with both teams taking three games.

Salt Lake struck first, scoring on a Matt Thaiss RBI triple in the first inning and then pushed the lead to 4-0 on a Michael Stefanic two-RBI single and an Anthony Bemboom sac fly. The River Cats finished with just two extra base hits but collected 15 singles to string together two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to take the lead and would hold on scoring insurance runs in the seventh and ninth.

Eight of the nine Bees batters recorded a hit with Brandon Marsh, Jo Adell and Thaiss, the top of the Bees order each collecting a multi-hit outing. The Bees did not hit a home run for the third consecutive game, the longest homerless streak of the season for Salt Lake.

The Bees will take Wednesday off before traveling to Tacoma to start a seven-game series with the Rainiers, including a double header on Thursday night. The Bees return to Smith’s Ballpark on Thursday, July 22 to open a six-game series with the Las Vegas Aviators. Pioneer Day fireworks will follow the games on July 23 and 24.
