Bees Earn Wire to Wire Victory
The Bees jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held off a late Las Vegas rally, as Salt Lake downed the 51s 7-4 on Wednesday night. The Bees scored three runs in the second on a two run double by Tommy Field and a run scoring double by Andrew Romine. Salt Lake added four more runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Romine and Matt Long and a two run double by Roberto Lopez. The Bees were within two outs of a shutout, but Las Vegas scored four runs in the ninth and loaded the bases with two outs before Daniel Stange retired Jamie Hoffman on a fly ball to right field to end the game, as Salt Lake takes two out of three from the 51s.
Barry Enright (4-5) tossed six scoreless innings for the victory in what might have been his best outing of the season, as he allowed just four hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Field, Romine and Lopez each had three hits and two runs batted in to lead the Bees' twelve hit attack.
"Tonight the game got away from our bullpen a little bit, but the bottom line is that we came away with the win," said Bees Manager Keith Johnson. "We won the series against against these guys for the first time this year, so hopefully we can take that into Colorado Springs."
