Snider’s Solid Outing Spoiled by 10th Inning Walk-off Loss 

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Missions continued their six-game series against the Frisco RoughRiders Tuesday night. Entering Friday night on a three-game winning streak, the Missions took a 7-2 lead into the ninth inning. After allowing Frisco to tie the game in the ninth, Frisco completed the comeback and walked off the Missions in the 10th inning. The final score from Friday night was 8-7.

Duncan Snider was the starting pitcher for the Missions. The defense helped the right-hander in the bottom of the first inning. J.P. Martinez began the inning with a double. He advanced to third base on a fly out from Luisangel Acuna. Aaron Zavala reached base on a fielder’s choice as Martinez was thrown out at home.

Frisco took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. With one out in the frame, Nick Tanielu reached base on a single. Liam Hicks reached base on a fielding error. Both runners advanced into scoring position on a ground out from Trevor Hauver. Jax Biggers drove in both runners with a base hit to right field. The RoughRiders took a 2-0 lead.

Nick Krauth was the starting pitcher for the RoughRiders. The right-hander tossed three scoreless innings but surrendered the lead in the fourth inning. San Antonio plated six runs on four hits between Krauth and Michael Brewer. With one out, Yorman Rodriguez was walked and Daniel Johnson singled. Juan Fernandez drove in a run with a base hit. Johnson came in to score on a throwing error from Hicks. Cole Cummings drew a two-out walk to extend the inning. Connor Hollis left the yard for a three-run home run. After Brewer entered the game, Jorge Ona made it back-to-back homers with a solo shot to left field. The Missions gained a 6-2 lead.

Duncan Snider out together one of his finest outings of the season. In 5.2 innings of work, he allowed two unearned runs on five hits while allowing one walk. The right-hander struck out six batters along the way.

San Antonio added an insurance run in the top of the eighth inning. Facing Hever Bueno, Johnson drew a leadoff walk and stole second base. Johnson finished the night 3-for-3 at the plate and stole three bases. Fernandez reached base on a fielding error. Pedro Castellanos loaded the bases after reaching base on a single. Hollis drove in his fourth run of the game with a bases loaded walk. The Missions improved their lead to 7-2.

Frisco tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with five runs on three hits facing Michel Baez and Kevin Kopps. Zavala scored the first run of the inning on a bases loaded hit by pitch. Thomas Saggese tied the game with a grand slam off Kopps. The two clubs entered the 10th inning tied at 7-7.

In the top of the 10th inning, Nick Starr took over for Frisco and Ray-Patrick Didder was the placed runner at second base. Starr retired all three batters he faced to keep the game tied.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, Kopps remained in the game and Chris Seise was the placed runner at second base. A balk from Kopps moved Seise to third base. With one out, Kopps issued an intentional walk to Martinez. With runners on the corners and one out, Acuna singled to score Seise and win the game for Frisco.

Right-hander Tekoah Roby (2-3, 4.96) is scheduled to pitch for the RoughRiders. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. from Riders Field.
