TCL Flying Chanclas Improve to 6-0 After Friday Night Doubleheader Against Victoria

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Flying Chanclas extended their perfect record to 6-0 after defeating Victoria twice Friday night. Game one ended in eight innings by a final score of 2-1. Game two ended with a final score of 8-3.

In game one, pitching dominated for both teams. The Flying Chanclas scored in the first inning on an RBI single from Zac Vooletich. After that, they were held scoreless until extra innings.

Kolby Lunsford was San Antonio’s starting pitcher. He pitched seven innings, struck out nine batters, while allowing one earned run.

Victoria tied the game in the fourth inning after a string of singles scored a run.

In the eighth inning, Vooletich was the designated runner on second base. Ian Bailey was intentionally walked as was Ryan Flores which loaded the bases. The next batter was Brandon Broughton who was walked to score the winning run.

In game two, San Antonio’s offense made more of an impact. Ryan Flores got the scoring started in the second inning when he hit his first home run of the season.

San Antonio added two more runs in the fourth inning with a two-RBI double from Ian Bailey. In the fifth inning, the Flying Chanclas plated four more runs in an inning that saw 10 batters come to the plate.

With a 7-0 lead, Victoria scored three runs in the sixth inning to cut the lead to four runs. The Flying Chanclas added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly from Flores.

The San Antonio Flying Chanclas improve to 6-0 on the season. They are back in action Saturday night against Brazos Valley at 7:05 p.m. at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
