Four games advance sellouts; July 5 fireworks added

To go along with the team's home opener which sold out in advance, the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees would like to announce that four additional games during the season have sold out in advance. This is the first time in franchise history the team has sold out multiple games in advance.

The upcoming sold out games are Wednesday, May 9 vs. Pawtucket, Friday, May 11 vs. Columbus, Thursday, May 24 vs. Indianapolis and Wednesday, July 4 vs. Pawtucket.

"Interest in Triple-A baseball in Northeastern Pennsylvania is at an all-time high and this just proves it," said Jeremy Ruby, Executive Vice President/COO of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. "Last season, we only sold out one game and that was thanks to a large walk-up sale on game day. We were never able to sell out a game in advance. This season we already have five sellouts including Opening Night and expect many more throughout the summer."

Because the Independence Day game sold out so quickly to groups and season ticket packages, an additional fireworks spectacular has been added to the July 5 game vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox Not only will the show be equal in size to the July 4 show, fans will also have a chance to see the rival Boston Red Sox top prospects take on the Yankees.

"Our July 4 fireworks show has become legendary and because it sold out so quickly we wanted to give fans another opportunity to witness it," said Ruby.

A driving force in selling out games in advance has been the tremendous response to the Champions Plan and group sales.

The seven game Champions Plans, which feature all-you-can-eat food and beverage for just $77, quickly sold out its first three plans. The demand was so great, a fourth plan - plan D, was added and currently has only 200 seats remaining. Plan D includes five weekend games and the July 4 game.

"If anyone really wants to attend the July 4 game, I strongly recommend calling our office as soon as possible and purchasing one of the few remaining Champions Plans," said Ruby.

The May 9 and May 24 games are 11:00 a.m. starts and will be attended by large numbers of local school and youth groups.

A group consists of 20 or more people and costs just $8 per seat per game and includes a souvenir hat. Group seating is still available for any non-sold out game with seat locations being filled on a priority call basis at 570-969-2255.

Fans interested in purchasing individual tickets to any non-sold out game may do so in person at the PNC Field Box Office, online at www.swbyankees.com or www.ticketmaster.com, by calling 570-693-4100 or at local Ticketmaster locations.

The PNC Field Box Office is open 10-5 M-F, 10-4 on Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. to the end of the game on game days.
