'Dogs drop the series finale, 10-3 on Sunday

Manchester, NH - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (37-56) used a four-run first inning to beat the Portland Sea Dogs (43-47), 10-3, Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. New Hampshire won the series, taking three of five from the Sea Dogs.

LHP Henry Owens (1-2) suffered the loss for the Sea Dogs, allowing six runs on six hits, six walks and two strikeouts over 4+ innings pitched.
 
RHP Sean-Reid Foley (6-7) earned his second win of the season against Portland, hurling six innings on four hits and three runs.
 
Michael Chavis led Portland's offense, going 1-for-3 with a homer and 2 RBI. Chavis has 22 homers between High-A Salem and Portland, which is tied for the second most in minor league baseball.
 
Gunnar Heidt had 8 RBI in the series for New Hampshire, going 2-for-4 with a homer and 4 RBI. Heidt gave the 'Cats a 4-0 lead with a two-run double in the first and made it 9-3 on his homer in the seventh.
 
Trailing 4-0, the 'Dogs scored twice off Reid-Foley in the fourth. Chavis delivered a sacrifice fly and Jeremy Barfield produced a run-scoring groundout.
 
Josh Smith took over for Owens in the fifth and yielded a two-run single to Derrick Loveless and a run-scoring single to Jonathan Davis - both hits with two outs.
 
Portland's Trevor Kelley worked 1.2 innings on three hits. New Hampshire's Carlos Ramirez fired two innings in relief and Justin Shafer closed out the game with a scoreless ninth.
The Sea Dogs open up an 8-game homestand in seven days on Monday night against the Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) at Hadlock Field. RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (3-3, 4.45 ERA) takes on Trenton RHP Yefry Ramírez (9-3, 3.45). Tickets are available at seadogs.com or 207-879-9500.
