Brennan Boesch Named to 2014 All-PCL Team

August 25, 2014

SALT LAKE CITY (August 25, 2014) - SALT LAKE CITY (August 25, 2014) - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Salt Lake's Brennan Boesch has been named to the 2014 All-PCL Team as designated hitter. The team was elected by the league's field managers and media representatives.

Boesch has been amongst the PCL's most feared hitters all season long and leads the Bees with 22 home runs and 77 RBIs. The left-handed outfielder is tops in the PCL with a .619 slugging percentage and is third in the league with a .326 batting average. With a good final week of the season, Boesch is poised to become the first Bees hitter since Todd Walker in 1996 to lead the PCL in slugging percentage.

A 29-year old native of Santa Monica, Calif., Boesch was named PCL Player of the Week on June 23 and was selected to the PCL All-Star team in July. On August 12, Boesch broke a 20-year old franchise record by reaching base in 11-straight plate appearances, collecting three walks, two singles, four doubles and two home runs during the three game stretch.

Originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2006 draft out of California-Berkley, Boesch is in his first year with the Angels organization. Twice this season Boesch has been called up by Los Angeles, appearing in 13 total games. In his last game with the Halos on August 19, Boesch scored the winning run for Los Angeles in the 9th inning after hitting a double off Red Sox closer Koji Uehara.

The Salt Lake Bees have three home games left in the 2014 season. The Bees take on the New Orleans Zephyrs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:05 each night at Smith's Ballpark before traveling to El Paso for a five-game series to end the season. Tickets for remaining Salt Lake Bees games are available at slbees.com, by phone at 801-325-BEES, or in person at the Smith's Ballpark box office or Smith's Tix locations.
