Nominate a Local Hero to be Recognized at a South Bend Cubs Game

Each Saturday home game the South Bend Cubs will honor a local police officer, firefighter, or teacher as the Hoosier Lottery Hero of the Game

SOUTH BEND, IN – The South Bend Cubs are proud to partner with Hoosier Lottery and honor Michiana heroes who do so much good for the community. Local teachers, police officers, and firefighters can be nominated, and the Cubs will honor one hero every Saturday home game at Four Winds

SOUTH BEND, IN – The South Bend Cubs are proud to partner with Hoosier Lottery and honor Michiana heroes who do so much good for the community. Local teachers, police officers, and firefighters can be nominated, and the Cubs will honor one hero every Saturday home game at Four Winds Field throughout the entire 2025 season.

Anyone can nominate a friend, family member or colleague to be a hero by following the link provided and filling out a Hoosier Lottery Hero of the Game form. Submissions are open from March 1 through April 30. Honorees will receive four complimentary tickets to the game, four food vouchers, and a Hoosier Lottery prize pack. The hero will also receive video recognition during the game on the video board beyond the right field wall.

"There are many deserving heroes in our community, and this is just another way we can recognized their hard work and dedication," said South Bend Cubs General Manager and Vice President Nick Brown. "The Hoosier Lottery has been a fantastic partner of ours for many years and continues to give back to these heroes each and every year."

Each year the Hoosier Lottery contributes 30 million dollars to local police and firefighters’ pensions and 30 million dollars to the Teachers Retirement Fund. Since the first Scratch-off was sold on October 13, 1989, the Hoosier Lottery has provided more than $7 billion to the State of Indiana as part of its commitment to build a Stronger, Safer, Smarter Indiana.

About the South Bend Cubs

The South Bend Cubs are the High-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Over the past 36 seasons, the team has won five Midwest League titles, most recently in 2022, and captured nine division titles. In 2023, the organization was selected as the Single-A Bob Freitas Award recipient by Baseball America. Four Winds Field, home of the South Bend Cubs, was voted Best High-A ballpark in the country by Ballpark Digest in 2022 and 2023, having also won the award as a Low-A ballpark in 2017. In 2019, the South Bend Cubs hosted the final Midwest League All-Star Game. In 2015 the team was named Ballpark Digest's Team of the Year and received the John H. Johnson President's Award, the highest award in minor league baseball. The team is owned and operated by Swing-Batter-Swing, LLC whose principal shareholder is Andrew T. Berlin of Chicago, Ill.
