Following a rain out yesterday in Batavia, the Spinners (10-12) headed to Williamsport to kick off a weekend series with the Crosscutters (12-10). Unfortunately it would not be start to the series they hoped for.
Starter Yorvin Pantoja looked good out of the gate but it would not be enough for the Spinners. In 5.2 innings of work, Pantoja struck out four, allowed three hits, but surrendered three earned runs with a pair of walks. He would be credited for his second loss of the season.
Denyi Reyes came in to relieve Pantoja in the sixth and went 1.2 innings and surrendered an earned run while allowing three hits. Dominic LoBrutto came into relieve Pantoja in the eighth and struck out both batters he faced in 0.2 innings.
It was a slow night for the offense with six hits and only one extra base hit. Raiwinson Lameda went 2-for4 with a pair of singles and Garrett Benge had a double with a pair of walks. It would not be enough as Lowell fell to Williamsport for the second consecutive loss.
The Spinners return to Williamsport tomorrow for the second game of the series with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and lefty Enmanuel De Jesus on the mound for Lowell.
