The Sugar Land Space Cowboys wrapped up the month of July with another pair of home runs in their series finale Sunday night against the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

Enmanuel Valdez and Pedro León homered as the Space Cowboys finished the month with 41 home runs – second most of Triple A teams.

The Space Cowboys went on to drop the series finale to Oklahoma City, 5-4, at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Valdez put the Space Cowboys out to an early lead with a two-run homer in the first. It was Valdez’s 21st combined home run of the season, including his 10th with the Space Cowboys. He leads Houston Astros minor leaguers with 74 RBI and is tied with teammate Corey Julks with his 21 home runs.

León hit his solo shot in the fifth inning off Ryan Pepiot, who’s ranked as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ No. 6 prospect by MLB.com. It was León’s 14th homer of the year and registered a 107.6-mph exit velocity and traveled 402 feet to left field.

The Space Cowboys scored their other run in the third. They loaded the bases with nobody out following a walk from David Hensley and singles from Alex De Goti and Julks. Hensley came around to score on a ground-out double play off the bat of Jose Siri.

Jason Martin and Ryan Noda each homered in Oklahoma City, combining to drive in four runs.

Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. is scheduled to make the third start of his MLB Rehab Assignment at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday at Constellation Field as they open a six-game series against the Round Rock Express.
