(Dunedin, Florida) - Wide-eyed and with smiles from ear-to-ear, members of the 2017 Vancouver Canadians received their Northwest League Championship rings as Spring Training begins to wrap up down in Florida.
The rings are the final page to a wonderful story crafted by the Canadians a summer ago topping the Eugene Emeralds 3-games-to-1, capturing a fourth Northwest League Championship in the process. Since partnering with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011, the Canadians have been to five Northwest League Championships, winning four of them and playing in more post-season games than any other franchise in the NWL.
Just over 60 rings were delivered to players, coaching staff and executives within the Toronto Blue Jays organization while another handful will be presented to full-time, year-round Canadians staff members at a ceremony in the coming days. The ring itself, designed by Jostens, has a ruby "C" located in the centre of a diamond with a collection of white gemstones surrounding it. Four ruby gems are located at each corner of the face signifying the four Northwest League Championships that the Canadians have claimed as members of the Northwest League.
Along the sides, the year "2017" is directly above a beautifully sculpted outline of historic Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium while the opposite side has the players individual surname above a full colour Toronto Blue Jays logo. On the inside of the ring, the four Championship years "11 12 13 17" are etched into the silver and the Canadians and Eugene Emeralds logos are engraved showing the Vancouver won the 2017 title 3-games-to-1.
The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club would like to once again thank the Toronto Blue Jays organization for its continued support of our franchise.
