VANCOUVER, BC – The Vancouver Canadians were thrashed by the Eugene Emeralds 13-0 on 17 hits in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday night at Nat Bailey Stadium, the worst loss of the season for Toronto’s High-A affiliate.

The Emeralds scored one in the third, two in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh to lead 8-0 before the C’s turned to a pair of position players – Davis Schneider and Hugo Cardona – to work the eighth and ninth, respectively. Schneider was tagged for five runs but Cardona put up a zero in the ninth to keep it 13-0.

Addison Barger grabbed a share of the league lead in hits with two knocks – including a double – to give him 61 on the season. Steward Berroa, Trevor Schwecke and Anthony Morales provided the only other hits for Vancouver.

With the loss, the C’s are now a season-worst five games below .500. They haven’t scored a run in 18.2 innings, their longest drought of the year. Eugene clinched the first half and booked their ticket to the postseason with the win.

These two clubs wrap up their seven-game set tomorrow afternoon on an A&W Family Fun Sunday. Alejandro Melean will try and salvage a third win in the series for Vancouver opposite Eugene’s Randy Rodriguez. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. and coverage begins at the top of the hour on MiLB.TV and the Sportsnet Radio Network.
