The top half of the Whitecaps lineup combined for 11 of the Whitecaps 13 hits; establishing a pair of five-run leads in the win. Meadows posted a career-high four hits in five at-bats with three runs, a double and RBI to help the 'Caps enjoy their second road victory of the second half.
The Whitecaps jumped out to a 3-0 lead just three batters into the ballgame, as Andre Lipcius ripped an RBI-double before Bryant Packard launched his first 'Caps homer - a two-run shot to take control of the contest. In the fifth, the 'Caps scored two more as Meadows and Packard ripped run-scoring doubles to extend the advantage to 5-0. The Snappers went out to collect single runs in their next three trips to the plate before drawing within two at 7-5 after eight frames. In the ninth, Wenceel Perez blasted a solo home run - his first from the right side of the plate - his third of the season to give the Whitecaps much-needed insurance and an 8-5 lead.
Wilkel Hernandez (7-5) lasted five innings but allowed only one run with four strikeouts in picking up his seventh win of the season to lead all West Michigan pitchers. Rafael Kelly (3-2) gave up five runs in 4.1 innings in suffering his second loss of the season. Zack Hess enjoyed a dominant 1.1 innings while striking out two in collecting his second save in as many opportunities. The Whitecaps offense neutralized a bullpen that has now given up 22 runs in its last three games (10 innings). The 'Caps improve to 31-63 and 10-15 in the second half standings while Beloit falls to 34-59 and 7-17 in the back half of 2019. While Meadows enjoyed a huge night, Packard doubled his season hit total by going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs in the victory.
