Lew Chamberlin holds the positions of Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer for Whitecaps Baseball. Lew was instrumental in bringing the Whitecaps to West Michigan; he began the process of bringing a minor league franchise to the area in 1987 and didn't rest until the team's inception in 1994. The Whitecaps have set the all-time Class A attendance record three times and have drawn over 7.5 million fans to Fifth Third
Ballpark over the last eighteen years. The Whitecaps also received the Bob Freitas Award for Class A Minor League Franchise of the Decade from Baseball America in 1999.
A native of Grand Rapids, Lew remains an active participant in the West Michigan community and has served on the boards of numerous community organizations. He currently serves on the board of the Grand Rapids/Kent County Convention and Visitor Bureau and also serves as one of the seven members of the Convention/Arena Authority, the quasi-public board that owns and operates the VanAndel Arena and DeVos Place. More recently, Lew has been serving as a member of the First Steps Commission whose goal is to help build a comprehensive system of support for Kent County's youngest children ages zero to five. In support of his early childhood work Lew was appointed by Governor Granholm to serve on the Executive Board of the Early Childhood Investment Corporation and also sits on the Children's Leadership Council of Michigan, a statewide group of business leaders advocating for early childhood investment.
Chamberlin was presented the Warren Reynolds Lifetime Achievement Award by the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. He was also Michigan's Entrepreneur of the Year in 1996.
Dennis Baxter's lifetime love of baseball and the desire for a place to take his children to see a professional baseball game inspired him to look into bringing a team to West Michigan. Without realizing it, Lew Chamberlin and Denny were attempting to do the same thing independently. They joined forces in 1986 and successfully brought the Whitecaps to West Michigan in time for the 1994 baseball season. Prior to becoming the Whitecaps Chief Financial Officer, Denny held the position of President of West Michigan Baseball Development. As CFO, Denny's responsibilities include managing the accounting department before, during, and after Whitecaps games.
Denny graduated with high honors from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and began his career as a practicing CPA. Prior to working full-time with the Whitecaps, Denny held numerous financial and managerial positions in West Michigan.
A native of Muskegon, Michigan, Denny continues to live there with his wife Cheryl and children Rachel and Eric. His daughter Tara is a teacher, living and working in Grand Rapids.
Denny is also the founder and president of Blue Cap Entertainment, which promotes sports and entertainment activities throughout the country. Denny also founded Rock the Rapids, a non-profit musical festival located in Grand Rapids, Michigan

A veteran of Minor League Baseball with more than 26 years experience, Scott Lane serves as president of Whitecaps Professional Baseball Corp.
After successfully establishing teams such as the Rockford Expos and Kane County Cougars, Lane joined the Whitecaps as general manager in 1993, guiding the team through its inaugural 1994 season and beyond. In 1996, the Whitecaps, under Lane's direction, set the all-time Class A attendance record by drawing 547,401 fans. The team led the Midwest League in attendance in each of its first five years of existence.
In 1999, Lane was named General Manager of the Decade by Baseball America. The Sporting News recognized him as Midwest League Executive of the Year in 1994 and 1996 as well as the Minor League Executive of the Year in 1994. The Whitecaps organization also received the Bob Freitas Award for Best Franchise of the Decade from Baseball America.
In the fall of 2000, the Whitecaps purchased Berlin Raceway and promoted Lane to president of both Whitecaps Racing and Whitecaps Professional Baseball. After just his first season in racing, Lane was named as the American Speed Association's (ASA) 2001 Promoter of the Year. ASA is a national touring race series that has served as a springboard for many drivers into the NASCAR Sprint Cup ranks.
Lane's work at Berlin Raceway brought many improvements to the infrastructure of the track, including both safety upgrades and fan amenities. Under Lane, Berlin Raceway improved upon its image as the premier racing facility in the Midwest by also making it the most fan-friendly.
In the fall of 2008, the Whitecaps sold Berlin Raceway. The sale of the track allows Lane to concentrate on the Whitecaps' core business, Fifth Third Ballpark facility management and hospitality.
Scott and his wife Kathy reside in Ada with their two children, Joe and Catherine. An avid golfer, Scott claims to have a handicap of 18, but actually plays to a 15. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Scott to this day believes that Lou Brock was safe at home plate in Game 5 of the 1968 World Series.

With 27 years of experience in professional baseball, Jim Jarecki has helped make the vision of the West Michigan Whitecaps a reality starting with the team's inaugural year (1994). As Vice President of Whitecaps Professional Baseball, Jim is responsible for creating and upholding the "Fifth Third Ballpark Experience," which includes fun and exciting family entertainment-for each and every fan that enters through the gates. He has facilitated numerous events at Fifth Third Ballpark, including the 1995, 2003 and 2014 Midwest League All-Star Games, six Midwest League championship series, the Detroit Tigers exhibition game in 1999, Fantasy Camps and facility events.
Prior to the 2006 season, Jim oversaw the $1.4 million dollar renovations at Fifth Third Ballpark of the suite level and outfield bleachers. At the conclusion of the 2006 season, Jim received the Midwest League Executive of the Year award, which was voted on by league owners and General Managers. During the 2008-'09 off-season, Jim oversaw the $1.5 million renovation to the ballpark which included playing field, new box seats, ballpark roof, backstop netting, structural repairs to concrete and asphalt, and suite renovations.
The Whitecaps received the Bob Freitas Award for Best Franchise of the Decade from Baseball America in 1999. In 1998 and 2000, Jim and the Whitecaps were recognized with the Midwest League Stadium Operations Award. After the 2007 season, the Whitecaps were awarded the Midwest League's Larry MacPhail Promotional Trophy for best promotion of baseball and entertainment. Following up the Midwest League award, the Whitecaps took it one more step in December and accepted the Promotional Trophy for the entire Minor Leagues at the Winter Meetings in Nashville. In addition, the Whitecaps were named MiLB's Team of the Year following the 2007 MWL Championship.
Jim's experience in professional baseball and includes operations, marketing, ticket and sponsorship sales, promotions and media relations. He started with the Chicago White Sox in telemarketing and his minor league experience has included working with the Oklahoma RedHawks as an intern and the Beloit Snappers as Assistant GM. Jim is a 1989 graduate of Northern Illinois University and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. In 2003, and again in 2005, he was named to the Grand Rapids Business Journal's "Top 40 Under 40 Business Leaders" and is currently on the Comstock Park DDA board, Wolverine Worldwide YMCA board, Midwest League Schedule committee, Midwest League Logo Committee, the Davenport University Sports Management Advisory Committee and MiLB's Licensing Committee.
A native of Woodridge, Illinois, Jim remains a Chicago sports fan to the end and has lived to see the Cubs with the World Series. He continues to play and coach youth basketball in the off-season and attempts the great game of golf when time permits during the season. Jim resides in Grand Rapids with his wife Christine, daughters Addison and Kelsey and son Carson.

Steve McCarthy got his start in the sports industry working as an Operations Intern for the West Michigan Whitecaps in 1995, followed by internships at Van Andel Arena and The Palace of Auburn Hills. From 1997 through 2001, he worked for the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills as a ticket sales account representative and eventually the Director of Group Sales for the team. Steve returned to the Whitecaps in December 2001 as the Director of Ticket Sales and was promoted to Vice President of Sales in October 2005. He currently oversees the sales and marketing efforts for the Whitecaps, and is involved in planning the non-baseball events at Fifth Third Ballpark.
As an alumnus of the University of Michigan, Steve is a life-long Wolverine fan. He also enjoys baseball, running and music. Steve is native to Grand Rapids and currently resides in Ada with his wife Kelli, daughter Liza and son Sawyer.

Joe Chamberlin was introduced to the business of Minor League Baseball working as an Operations Intern for the West Michigan Whitecaps in 2005. After a hiatus away from professional sports Joe rejoined the team for their 2013 season as the team's Director of Finance. While away from baseball Joe served in a wide range of HR and Finance related roles with Ally Financial, a Fortune 500 financial services company headquartered in Detroit MI. In his current position with the Whitecaps Joe leads all Finance and Accounting activity for the team and their charitable partner the Whitecaps Community Foundation.
Joe earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Economics from The College of Wooster where he was a four year varsity letter winner in tennis and holds a Masters degree in Human Resources and Labor Relations from Michigan State University. Active in the community Joe currently serves as a board member for both the Whitecaps Community Foundation and the Lake Michigan Academy. Joe is native to Grand Rapids and currently resides in Cascade with his wife Dana and their sons Crawford and Becker.
Marketing & Promotions
Mickey joined the Whitecaps in 1999 in the Box Office. He became the Promotions Manager in 2000, Marketing Manager in 2005 and was promoted to a Director in 2008. He previously worked with the Harrisburg Senators. He loves a good inspirational cat poster and traveling in his spare time.
Elaine joined the Whitecaps full-time in October, 2013 after working promotions for two years. She graduated from Alma College (Go Scots!) where she played soccer and graduated with a degree in New Media Studies with a Marketing & Graphic Design emphasis. In her spare time she enjoys camping, people watching and crafting. She is allergic to pistachios, loves elephants more than most things and hates putting on shoes with sandy feet.
Matt first started working in baseball with the Great Lakes Loons in 2011 before he went full-time in 2012. He then moved to Salem, VA to work with the Salem Red Sox as the Marketing and Promotions Manager in late 2013 before returning back to the great state of Michigan.
Matt grew up playing baseball including 2 years at Muskegon Community College and 2 years at Northwood University where he graduated with a degree in Entertainment, Sport, and Promotional Management. In his spare time, Matt enjoys going up to his cottage on Elk Lake, spending time with his friends, watching any Detroit sports team, and enjoying a nice craft beer at a local bar.
Elena graduated from GVSU with a Bachelors in Business Administration and Marketing. She has held various marketing and social media roles over the years with ArtPrize, Purple Community at the Van Andel Institute, Serendipity Media and most recently English Gardens. She has a background and skills in the areas of content creation, analytics and strategy, blog writing, graphics both on social and in print, media & photography, marketing and engagement with events and merchandising marketing.
Ernie joined the Whitecaps in 2006. He is a proud MSU grad. He worked 7 out of the first 8 Whitecaps' seasons on the suite level as a suite prep, runner, and server. He lives in Hudsonville with his wife Katie and their four children.
Steve joined the Whitecaps in 2007 after 27 years in radio, 23 of which were in West Michigan. He lives in East Grand Rapids with his wife Audrey and three children, Michael, Connor and Erika.
Dean joined the 'Caps in '08 as a Ticket Sales Consultant and moved into Advertising Sales in '11. He is a Calvin College grad and previously interned with the Toledo Med Hens. He lives in Jenison with his wife Michelle and sons, Tyler, Caleb and Logan.
JD graduated from Calvin College in 2009 and went on to receive his Master's Degree in Sports Management from Western Michigan University. He started with the Whitecaps as an intern in 2011 and was hired on full time at the completion of that season. He lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Jess, and their two sons, Eli and Zeke. In his spare time, JD enjoys camping, reading and most things sports related.
Leah has been with the organization for 2 season starting as the Box Office Assistant and moving up to the Partnership Coordinator position for the 2015 season. She has Graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Sport Management. Leah enjoys Ice Capps from Tim Hortons, along with their selection of delicious Timbits. If Leah had a day to herself, she would spend it fishing on Lake Michigan with country music blaring and an Ice Capp in hand.
Tickets & Events
Chad was hired in the fall of 2003 after one season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He was named Director of Ticket Sales in 2007 after serving as a Ticket Sales Consultant and Group Sales Manager prior to that. He is responsible for overseeing all facets of the Whitecaps Ticket Sales Dept, including single game, group, and season tickets.
Chad is a graduate of Central Michigan University and hails from beautiful Munising, MI. in the Upper Peninsula. Chad currently resides in the "city of two rivers", Portland, MI, with his wife Jaclyn and daughter Avery. In his spare time, Chad enjoys camping, hiking, and rooting on the Packers, Tigers, and Chippewas.
Drew started with the Whitecaps in October of 2005 after graduating from Central Michigan University with a degree in Communications and Hospitality. Autumn is his favorite time of the year and he loves all things Michigan. He has 3 awesome kids, an even more awesome wife and a great family.
He enjoy camping, biking and running, drives a minivan, has a passion for great food and in his second life would probably be a professional chef.

Shaun completed the Ticket Achievement Internship during the 2009 season and joined the staff full time in October 2009. He is a 2009 Central Michigan University graduate. 2009 was a good year for him.
Shaun got married in October of 2013 and he, his wife Meghan, their son and daughter live in Grand Rapids.
Mike Joined the Whitecaps just before the start of the 2017 season as the Ticket Operations Coordinator. He started in sports as a Guest Relations intern at TD Garden in Boston during the 2013 - 2014 Bruins and Celtics season. After graduating from Davenport University in 2014, with a Business Management Degree, Mike interned with the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Lansing Lugnuts. He Returns to West Michigan after working in direct sales for the St. Louis Cardinals. Mike is a sports fanatic and when not working can be found cheering on his Boston sports teams!
Sam joined the Whitecaps' staff before the 2015 season as a Ticket Sales Consultant. Prior to working in West Michigan, Sam spent the 2014 season with the Fort Wayne TinCaps as a Box Office/Group Sales Intern. He also spent time working for the Peoria Chiefs as a Ticket Sales Account Executive before making the move to Grand Rapids. Sam is a native of Grand Rapids and a 2013 graduate of Aquinas College with a degree in Business Administration/Sport Management - Go Saints! When he's not at work you can usually find Sam cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Dru will be entering his fifth full season in baseball and fourth with the Whitecaps. A graduate of Central Michigan University with a Master's Degree in Sports Administration, Dru enjoys a good laugh and a cold microbrew with his friends. He is a devoted Michigan State University athletic supporter and when not cheering on the Spartans, he is spending time being outnumbered with his wife Amber, daughters Lexi and Zoe, and dog Izzo.
Chris Graduated from Cornerstone University in 2015 with a degree in sports management. He was hired full time by the Whitecaps after finishing up as the Ticket Achievement Programs Intern for the 2015 season. His perfect day would be attending a game at Spartan Stadium or the Breslin Center.
Andrea is entering her first season with the Whitecaps as a Ticket Sales Consultant. As a recent grad of Ferris State University, she spent 3 years as a Resident Advisor and graduated with a degree in Marketing and Public Relations. Prior to joining the Whitecaps staff she worked for the Grand Rapids Griffins for their 2015 season in their Corporate Sales department. In her free time, she loves embracing all things Michigan related, going on adventures with her dog Paisley, hiking, camping, boating, napping in a hammock, and traveling to see friends.
Mackenzie graduated from Manchester University - Go Spartans! - in North Manchester, IN in May 2016. Prior to joining the Whitecaps Mackenzie spent the summer of 2014 with the South Bend Silver Hawks (now South Bend Cubs) as a Group Sales Intern. In the summer of 2015 she spent time in Green Bay, WI with the Green Bay Bullfrogs working as a Marketing Intern. Most recently, Mackenzie worked for the University of Florida Athletic Association in their ticket office. Her perfect day would be spent at Lambeau Field watching the Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings while it is snowing.
Mike joined the Whitecaps organization in November 2007. He previously worked as a Berlin Raceway Operations Intern. Mike is a graduate of Central Michigan University and enjoys watching sports and fishing in his spare time.
Alanna joined the Whitecaps in 1999 after working at The Van Andel Arena. She also worked at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA. Her position focuses on facility events including company picnics, meetings, holiday parties and weddings. She, and her husband Rich, live in Grand Rapids and have two kids, Isabelle and Nathan.
Kimberly joined the Whitecaps in 2018 as the Facility Events Coordinator after a three-year stint in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania planning conferences and tradeshows for the auto/aerospace industry. She is a proud Bronco and class of 2015 graduate from Western Michigan University. When she's not busy studying for her Certified Meeting Professional certificate, she enjoys boating on Michigan's lakes, watching bad reality television, and convincing her husband, Josh, they need a puppy. Or two.
Jess started full-time with the Whitecaps in 2013 and has a B.A. in Public Relations and a M.A. in Communications. When not at the ballpark you can find Jess attending comedy shows, concerts, and volunteering within the Grand Rapids community. Some also consider Jess a bandwagon Warriors fan after Kevin Durant joined the squad.
Lori came to the Whitecaps in the beginning after spending 1993 with the Madison Muskies and '91-'92 with the Chattanooga Lookouts. She lives in Ada with her husband Brent, daughter Sydney and son Brady.
Food & Beverage
Matt began as the Concessions Assitant at the Berlin Raceway in 2001. He moved over to the Whitecaps full-time in 2003 as Director of Food & Beverage and managed both venues until Berlin Raceway sold in 2009.
Amanda joined the full-time crew in October, 2010 after two seasons as an intern. She is a Hospitality graduate of GVSU. After two season as Ticket Operations Coordinator, she is excited to utilize her experiences as Hospitality Coordinator.
Libby is a native to the Grand Rapids area with her hometown being in Rockford, MI. She first started working at The Whitecaps back in 2011 as a Cashier. Since then she has worked a Concessions Supervisor, Food and Beverage Coordinator and now she is the Food and Beverage Special Events Manager. She comes from a family of 6 kids where she is the only girl amongst 5 brothers. In her spare time you can find her camping, sitting around a bonfire, attending a country music concert or hanging out with friends.
Megan is originally from Southern California, where she graduated from Chapman University with a degree in Business Administration. Megan comes to the Whitecaps with experience managing concessions operations at multiple venues including Globe Life Park (Texas Rangers), New Era Field (Buffalo Bills), and Camelback Ranch (the spring training home of the LA Dodgers and Chicago White Sox).
Facility & Operations
A native of Grand Rapids, Mike received his degree in Sport Management/ Business Administration from Aquinas College in 2013. Mike interned with the team as an operations intern in 2013 and worked as a box office assistant in 2014. In his spare time he enjoys hitting the golf course, as well as snowboarding in the winter believes that sooner or later the Cubs will win the World Series.
Mitch is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Agronomy with an emphasis in Golf and Sports Turf Management . He spent the 2016 season with the Beloit Snappers as the Heads Groundskeeper and also has worked in grounds with the Toledo Mud Hens, The Detroit Tigers, The Nashville Sound, and Kannapolis Intimidators. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his wife Emily, daughter Madalyn and dog Dixie. #hailstate
Zach grew up in Lake Odessa, MI. Before he joined the Whitecaps he spent 3 years as an Assistant Superintendent at Egypt Valley Country Club. In his free time he enjoys watching sports, golfing, and fishing.
Jason joined the Whitecaps in November of 2016. He comes to the Whitecaps with over 10 years of manufacturing engineering and maintenance management experience. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, fishing, hiking and traveling. He is also a lifelong Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Tigers fan.
Scott came to the Whitecaps from a background in plumbing and school facility maintenance in February 2012. He and his wife Cindy live in Grandville with their two sons.
Beth joined the Whitecaps organization in June of 2016 and comes to the Whitecaps with 10 years of progressive Human Resource experience working mostly in the manufacturing industry.
Beth is a graduate of the University of Buffalo and no stranger to the never ending lake effect snow. She grew up very active in sports throughout high school and college and remembers growing up attending games for the Buffalo Bisons. Although not a native to the Grand Rapids area, she has lived in the Mitten for 8 years and has grown to love it for the cottage life, beautiful beaches and it's Midwest big city feel. However, she will never understand the "Michigan left."
Beth is very excited to be part of the Whitecaps team and all the wonderful things that they offer to the community.
Scott became a full-time staff member in April of 2001 after starting the season as the Group Sale Intern. He had been a Staffing, Inc. employee at Fifth Third Ballpark since 1994. He, his wife Angie and their two daughters live in Comstock Park.
Chris started with the Whitecaps in March of 2006. She comes to us from the furniture industry and has an extensive background in customer service.
She resides in Comstock Park with her husband, Chuck, and three daughters.
Lisa lives in southeast Grand Rapids with her husband, Gene, and three daughters. She most recently worked as the Administrative Assistant/Secretary at a local elementary school. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
Dan Hasty joined the Whitecaps in early 2015 after spending his four previous years working in Detroit Sports radio at 97.1 The Ticket. While there, he served as a producer for Stoney, Bill & Sara Mornings, co-hosted talk shows, and served as the Pregame, Halftime and Postgame Show Host for the Detroit Lions Radio Network. Dan and his wife Angelina reside in Lansing.
