After a back and forth first five innings that saw 15 combined runs between the two teams, the Dash (22-24, 60-50) bullpen shut down the Pelicans (24-23, 45-69) in the final four frames. With the Dash leading 8-7, Perez (1-2) pitched two hitless innings while racking up three strikeouts.
Then, Lindgren came on to pitch the seventh and eighth. The left-hander struck out four hitters while allowing just one hit. In the bottom of the ninth, Kincanon locked down the save. After walking the leadoff hitter Miguel Amaya, Kincanon induced a double play from Luke Reynolds and struck out Grant Fennell to end the ballgame.

Following Blackman's homer, the Birds got a run back in the bottom of the third. Leading off the inning, MLB rehabber Ben Zobrist smacked a solo homer into right-center field to cut the Dash lead to two runs.
The Dash added two more in the top of the fourth. Cruz led off the inning by singling into left field before Vaughn reached on an error by the shortstop Zinn. After a Dedelow strikeout, Fisher doubled down the right-field line, scoring Cruz to make it 7-4. Blackman capped the scoring in the fourth by hitting a sacrifice fly into right field, pushing the Dash lead to four runs.
Myrtle Beach struck back once again in the bottom of the fifth. Following back-to-back walks by Zobrist and Balego, Miguel Amaya belted a three-run homer to right-center field to make it 8-7.
