WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 6, 2019) - The Dash fell for the third straight game on Saturday night, as the Fayetteville Woodpeckers earned a 6-2 victory and a series sweep at BB&T Ballpark.
Fayetteville (9-8, 40-46) jumped out to a lead against Dash starter Konnor Pilkington (1-5) in the top of the third inning. Ruben Castro led off the frame by drawing a walk before reaching second on a single by Jeremy Pena. The next batter, Ross Adolph, grounded out, but both runners advanced on the play. Then, Corey Julks hit an infield single, allowing Castro to score the first run of the contest.

After a Chandler Taylor walk loaded the bases, Scott Manea hit a sacrifice fly to right field to push the lead to two runs. Enmanuel Valdez then singled into right field to plate Julks for the third run of the frame.
Winston-Salem (6-11, 44-37) responded in the bottom half of the third against Fayetteville starter JP France (3-5). With two outs, Tyler Frost blasted a solo homer down the right-field line to make it 3-1. It was Frost's ninth home run of the season.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Dash added another run. Following a Steele Walker groundout, Jameson Fisher walked and promptly stole second before taking third on a wild pitch by France. Zach Remillard then hit a sacrifice fly to score Fisher and cut the Woodpeckers lead to a run.
However, Fayetteville plated another run in the top of the fifth against Winston-Salem reliever Kevin Escorcia. With one out, Chandler Taylor doubled off the wall in left-center field. Scott Manea then punched a ball down the right-field line for a second straight double to make it 4-2.
The Woodpeckers added two more in the top of the sixth against Jake Elliott. With one out, Jeremy Pena was hit by a pitch before stealing second. After a popout by Adolph, Julks drew a walk to put runners at first and second. Taylor then smacked his second double of the night into right field to plate both runners and push the Fayetteville lead to four runs.
In relief of France, Yeremi Ceballos tossed three hitless frames and retired nine straight Dash hitters to end the contest.
