Midwest League honors McFarland as Player of the Week

Rattlers second baseman on an eight-game hitting streak
May 12, 2014

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Wisconsin Timber Rattlers second baseman Chris McFarland has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week. He is the second Timber Rattler to win that honor this season.

McFarland, an 18th round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2011 draft out of Lufkin (TX) High School, extended his current hitting streak to eight games with his terrific week. He was 11-for-25 (.440) with two triples, two home runs, three RBI, three stolen bases, and eight runs scored last week.

On the season, McFarland is hitting .299 with six homers and fifteen RBI. He wrapped up his week on May 10 by going 3-for-5 and was a double shy of hitting for the cycle against the Cedar Rapids Kernels.

McFarland joins catcher Clint Coulter as the two Wisconsin players to win the Midwest League's Player of the Week award this season. Coulter was honored on April 14.

The Rattlers are to start a three-game series against the Quad Cities River Bandits tonight at Neuroscience Group at Fox Cities Stadium. Tickets are available for all of the games on this homestand.
