Cougars win 4-2 over Wisconsin to open four-game series

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Kane County Cougars broke a 1-1 with two runs in the top of the seventh inning and added another run in the ninth to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-2 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Saturday night.
Jancarlos Cintron put the Cougars (52-51 overall, 17-17 second half) up 1-0 with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning.

Wisconsin (46-57, 15-19) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. KJ Harrison started the inning with a double. Payton Henry followed with a single to center and Harrison scored on the play to even the score.

Wisconsin starting pitcher Dylan File left the game after allowing a one-out single in the top of the seventh. Reliever Cody Beckman took over for File and issued a walk to put two runners on base. Yan Sanchez followed with a double to right that scored both runners and gave Kane County a 3-1 lead.

Lane Ratliff was the starter for the Cougars and he struck out six over six innings while allowing just one run.

The Rattlers pulled to within a run in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Abraham Almonte. Gabriel Garc
ía drew a walk to begin the inning. Nic Pierre followed with a double to left to put runners at second and third. Darren Seferina was next and he sent a fly ball to deep center that scored García and moved Pierre to third with the tying run.

Kyler Stout took over for Almonte after the sacrifice fly by Seferina and stranded Pierre at third by striking out the next two batters he faced.

The Cougars added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning when Ryan Dobson scored from second on a wild pitch.

Stout walked around a one-out walk in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game.

Wisconsin is 2-12 in 14 games against the Cougars this season.

Game two of the series is Sunday afternoon. Wisconsin has named Aaron Ashby, the 4th round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers from the 2018 draft, as their starting pitcher and he will be making his Midwest League debut. The Cougars have named Franklyn Soriano, who just joined Kane County from Hillsboro of the Northwest League, as their starter and he will also be making his Midwest League debut. Game time is 1:05pm.
The Timber Rattlers and Kwik Trip will welcome some great athletes to the ballpark for Special Olympics Day on Sunday and PBS Kids' star Nature Cat is coming back to the game if you missed him on Saturday night. 

Wisconsin players and coaches will wear their Brewers-themed jerseys during the game as part of Brewers Sunday with Rasmussen College and Star 98. Fans may play catch on-field for thirty minutes courtesy of Rasmussen College starting at noon. Players will be available for a postgame autograph session sponsored by Tundraland.

The broadcast is also available on the Tune In and IHeart Radio apps. The game will be televised on CW-14 in Northeastern Wisconsin and on My24 in Southeastern Wisconsin starting at 1:00pm.
