GRAND CHUTE, WI – The Quad Cities River Bandits had eighteen hits and scored in seven of the nine innings to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 13-5 Tuesday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Luca Tresh led Quad Cities with four hits, including two doubles and a triple, and three RBI.

The River Bandits (26-38) scored in the first inning. Tyler Tolbert doubled to start the game and moved to third on a single by Luca Tresh. Diego Hernandez grounded into a force play at second to get Tolbert home for a 1-0 lead.

The Timber Rattlers (34-29) evened the score in the third. Tyler Black singled to start the inning. Tristan Peters singled with one out to send Black to third. An errant pickoff throw to first by reliever Chase Wallace allowed Black to score the tying run.

Black had four of Wisconsin’s seven hits. He had two doubles, two singles, reached on a hit batsman, scored twice, and drove in one run. Tuesday night was Black’s second four-hit game of his professional career. He had also four hits with the Carolina Mudcats on September 19, 2021.

Hernandez put Quad Cities back in the lead in the top of the fourth with a long home run to right-center. Hernandez his fourth home run of the season on the second pitch of the inning.

Wisconsin charged to the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Darrien Miller was hit by a pitch and Ethan Murray singled. Then, Ashton McGee tripled in both runners. Black doubled one out later to send McGee home for a 4-2 lead.

Quad Cities went back in front in the top of the fifth against Trevor Gott, who was on a rehab assignment for the Milwaukee Brewers. Burle Dixon started the inning with a double and Tolbert followed with a single. Then, Tolbert stole second base. Luca Tresh doubled to center to score both runners to tie the game. Kale Emshoff drove in Tresh with a single and the Bandits were up 5-4.

Dixon doubled in a run with two outs in the top of the sixth inning off Joey Matulovich to extend the River Bandits lead.

Black was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the sixth and Peters drew a walk to bring Mike Brosseau, who was also on a rehab appearance for the Brewers, to the plate. Two wild pitches by reliever Parker Harm let Black come around to score and send Peters to third. Brosseau drew a walk to put runners at the corners with one out, but that was as close as the Rattlers would get. Reliever Ruben Ramirez retired the next two batters to keep the River Bandits up 6-5. The Quad Cities bats went to work after that.

In the seventh, Herard Gonzalez hit a two-run home run with two outs.

In the eighth, the first five Bandits to hit in the inning reached base with four crossing home plate. Dixon had a two-run single. Tolbert and Tresh had back-to-back RBI triples to cap the inning.

In the ninth, Hernandez had an RBI double with two outs. Quad Cities went 10-fof-22 with runners in scoring position in the game.

Wisconsin’s offense had one hit after the fifth inning. The Rattlers stranded eleven runners and were 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position on Tuesday night.

The loss was the sixth in a row for the Timber Rattlers.

Brosseau was 0-for-2 with two walks for Wisconsin. He played six innings in the field before leaving as scheduled. He will be back at third base for the Rattlers again on Wednesday night.

The second game of the series is Wednesday night at Neuroscience Group Field. Zach Mort (3-2, 5.06) is set to be the starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Rylan Kaufman (1-3, 5.28) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the River Bandits. Game time is 6:40pm.

The fastest dachshunds in Northeastern Wisconsin will compete to see who is the fastest in a pregame race in the outfield sponsored by Fox Communities Credit Union, Blue Pearl, Fox Valley Humane Association, and the Outagamie County K-9 Unit. The left field berm will be set aside for all breeds of dogs to enjoy the game with their families. Admission for dogs is free as long owners sign a waiver that their good doggos are current on their vaccinations (Rabies, DHLP, Parvo, and Bordetella) on a Bark in the Park Night from Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Fleet Farm. Cher-Make Hot Dogs will be available for ten cents all night long as part of Dime Dog Night.
