Murphy, Story Lead Topes To Comeback Win

July 24, 2015

NEED TO KNOW: Young prospects Tom Murphy and Trevor Story led the Albuquerque Isotopes (45-54) to a 7-4 come-from-behind win against the Reno Aces (46-53) Thursday night at Aces Ballpark in Reno, NV. Murphy's eighth-inning RBI single gave the Isotopes a 5-4 lead, and Story's two-run home run in the ninth was the icing on top.

THE TURNING POINT: Reno jumped on the board first with a run in the second, but Albuquerque responded with a pair of runs in the third courtesy of a two-RBI triple from Rafael Ynoa. The Aces quickly regained the lead with a three-spot in the fourth to take a 4-2 advantage. The Isotopes didn't start their rally until the eighth inning when Ynoa drew a leadoff walk. After a Trevor Story single, Cristhian Adames and Kyle Parker notched back-to-back RBI base knocks to tie the game. Tom Murphy then delivered the go-ahead RBI single to drive in Adames. After another leadoff walk in the ninth, Story blasted a two-run homer over the left-center field wall.

LET ME TELL YOU A STORY: Trevor Story continued his recent hot streak and is still an extra-base machine for the Isotopes. He finished Wednesday night's game 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored. The infielder now has 10 hits in his last 21 at-bats with six runs scored, three doubles, four home runs and eight RBI over five games. Since joining Albuquerque, 14 of Story's 21 hits are for extra-bases.

THAT MURPHY KID, HUH: Colorado Rockies top catching prospect Tom Murphy joined the Isotopes ahead of Thursday night's game and earned his first start. He notched his first Triple-A hit with two-out double in the fourth inning, but his big knock came in the eighth. With runners on first and third in a tied game, Story delivered a go-ahead RBI single to left field, giving the Isotopes a 5-4 lead and eventual win. He finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI
