Rosario Drives In Five In Isotopes Loss

NEED TO KNOW: Wilin Rosario belted two home runs Saturday night, including an eighth inning grand slam but the Albuquerque Isotopes (48-60) comeback was foiled against the Fresno Grizzlies (60-47). The Isotopes dropped a 9-7 decision in 12 innings against the Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, CA. Rosario finished the game 4-for-6 with a double, two homers, five RBI and two runs scored.

THE TURNING POINT: Infielder Wilin Rosario hit his first home run of the night in the fourth inning to give Albuquerque an early lead, but Fresno responded with a four-spot in the home half of the inning. Both teams were held at bay for the next two innings before the Grizzlies added a run in the seventh. It all changed in the eighth inning though as three of the first four batters of the inning reached. Trevor Story was then hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 5-2. Rosario stepped back in the box and belted a 3-2 pitch over the right fielder wall for a go-ahead grand slam. Fresno tied it in the bottom of the ninth, but Trevor Story's two-out RBI double in the 12th gave the Isotopes a short-lived lead. The Grizzlies led off the home half o the 12th with a homer and then belted a two-run long ball for the walk-off victory.

WILIN' FEELIN' GOOD: Infielder Wilin Rosario has been tearing the cover off the ball since rejoining the Isotopes on Wednesday. He went 4-for-6 with a double, two homers, five RBI and two run scored on Saturday. Collectively in his three games back with Albuquerque, he is 10-for-15 with three doubles, four homers, five runs scored and seven RBI. Rosario has six multi-hit efforts in his last seven Triple-A games dating back to May 2.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and Grizzlies will play game two of their four-game series Sunday night at 7:05 p.m. Left-handed pitcher John Lannan (6-5, 5.20 ERA) is scheduled to start for Albuquerque, while Fresno is slated to go with fellow left-hander Brett Oberholtzer (3-3, 5.87 ERA).

IN THE HOLE: Following their four-game road trip, the Isotopes will return home for a nine-game, 10-day homestand beginning August 5 against the El Paso Chihuahuas and Fresno Grizzlies. 17 of Albuquerque's next 26 games are at home.
