Bernadina Blasts Two-Run Walk-Off Homer

August 6, 2015

NEED TO KNOW: Roger Bernadina's 10th inning walk-off home run gave the Albuquerque Isotopes (49-63) a 6-4 win against the El Paso Chihuahuas (57-53) Wednesday night at Isotopes Park. Bernadina finished the game 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, two runs scored and three RBI.

THE TURNING POINT: The Isotopes and Chihuahuas traded blows much of the night. Albuquerque took an early lead on Tommy Murphy's solo home run in the second before El Paso responded with a pair in the fourth. The Topes plated a pair of their own in the fourth to retake the lead, and added another in the fifth on an Angelys Nina two-out single. The Chihuahuas chipped away with runs in the sixth and eighth to tie it and send the game to extras. After escaping a bases loaded jam in the top of the 10th, the Isotopes led off the home half of the inning with a single before Roger Bernadina blasted his game-winning two-run shot over the left field wall.

MOVING LIKE BERNIE: Outfielder Roger Bernadina belted a two-run walk-off home run in the 10th inning. He finished the evening 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, two runs scored and three RBI. Bernadina now has hits in five of his last six games, including a pair of homers and five RBI during that stretch.

TWO HITS TO GO AROUND: The Isotopes received plenty of multi-hit performances Wednesday evening. In addition to Roger Bernadina's three-hit evening, Trevor Story, Cristhian Adames, Angelys Nina and Tommy Murphy all posted two-hit performances. Adames now has hits in six straight games, including multi-hit outings in four of his last five appearances.

DRI-FIT T-SHIRTS THURSDAY: The first 3,000 fans 18 and older to Thursday's 7:05 p.m. first pitch will receive a free Dri-Fit t-shirt courtesy of the American Heart Association. CBS Sports Network will also broadcast the game nationally as part of Minor League Baseball's Game of the Week. There will also be a piggy bank giveaway on Friday and post-game fireworks on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and Chihuahuas will play game two of their five-game series Thursday night at 7:05. The game will be nationally televised as part of CBS Sports Network's Minor League Game of the Week. Right-handed pitcher Jair Jurrjens (2-5, 6.68 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for Albuquerque, while El Paso is slated to go with left-hander Jason Lane (8-7, 5.39 ERA) on the hill.

IN THE HOLE: Following their nine-game, 10-day homestand, the Isotopes will hit the road for an eight-game road trip to Memphis and Nashville beginning August 15.
