Bats are unable to answer to Braves in 4-2 loss

Lawrenceville, GA- The Louisville Bats (60-67) faced the Gwinnett Braves (68-58) for game two of their series at Coolray Field Friday night while losing for their second consecutive to the Braves, 4-2.

Righty Michael Lorenzen (L, 3-2, 2.31) made his second appearance since pitching a complete game shutout on August 16, 2015. He went seven innings giving up nine hits, three runs, all earned, walked one, struck out two, and gave up one homer. He was replaced by righty Dylan Axelrod in the eighth who was optioned by Cincinatti the previous day.

Braves were on the board early when Joey Terdoslavich had a two-run homer in the first to take the lead, 2-0.

In the fifth the Bats became in reach by one run when Hernan Iribarren grounded out to score Chris Berset. The Bats then tied it up in the sixth when Bryson Smith singled to score Adam Duvall. Followed by the Braves, the tie was broke from an RBI single by Christian Bethancourt to make the score, 3-2.

Righty Kanekoa Texelra started on the mound for the Braves. He went five and one third innings, gave up four hits, two runs, both earned, walked five, and struck out two. Righty Vin Mazzaro (W, 1-0, 1.08) finished the sixth inning and succeeded his first win of the season. He went two innings, gave up one hit, and walked two.

An RBI double from Sean Kazmar in the eighth gave the Braves an insurance run to succeed the victory over the Bats, 4-2.

The Louisville Bats and Gwinnett Braves head into game three of their four-game series tomorrow at 7:05 pm at Coolray Field. Projected on the mound for the Bats is righty Donn Roach (2-3, 5.20) and for the Braves righty Victor Mateo (1-2, 6.27).
