Bats drop series finale to Indians, 8-1

Louisville Ky.- After winning three straight games, the Louisville Bats (63-71) lost to the Indianapolis Indians (78-56) by the score of 8-1 on Friday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

The Indians offense exploded for 16 hits on the night. Six of the Indians hitters had multiple hits to help secure the win.

Louisville picked up their lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. Adam Duvall and Josciel Veras both singled before a Kyle Waldrop single which allowed Duvall to score.

Offensively for the Bats, Chris Dominguez and Hernan Iribarren were 2-for-4 on the night.

Dylan Axelrod (L, 6-7, 4.65) started the game for Louisville and suffered the loss. Axelrod pitched two and two-thirds innings. He gave up eight hits, six runs, two earned, and one walk while striking out one.

Chris Volstad (W, 11-6, 3.26) picked up the win for the Indians. Volstad threw seven innings as he gave up five hits, one run, and no walks while striking out five.

The Bats will travel to Columbus on Saturday to face the Clippers at 7:15 PM. Expected to pitch for Louisville is righty Josh Smith (3-4, 3.70). On the mound for the Clippers will be right-handed pitcher Jordan Cooper (4-2, 3.86).
