Bats walk-off in season finale against Indians, 3-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky - The Louisville Bats (64-80) ended their 2015 season with a walk-off double by Brennan Boesch to the take down the division leading Indianapolis Indians (83-61), 3-2. This is third straight walk-off in the final game of the season.

The Indians put up their first run in the top of the third with Gorkys Hernandez' RBI single to score Gustavo Nunez. Left-hander David Holmberg held the Indians off for one inning until they pushed across another run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly by Keon Broxton.

Holmberg (7-7, 4.34) had a season high seven strikeouts through seven innings in his final outing. He gave up eight hits, two earned runs, and walked one. Righty Miguel Celestino came on in the eighth as Bats trailed 2-0.

Right-hander Chris Volstad (11-7, 3.18) went seven shut-out innings in the final regular season game, allowed four hits and struck out six Bats.

Righty Blake Wood came in for Indianapolis to close it out but the Bats turned it around with a ninth inning rally that started with Kyle Waldrop's single. Chris Dominguez followed up with a single and a sacrifice bunt by Juan Silva to move the runners. Catcher Chris Berset scored the first run with an RBI single to cut the lead in half and the bases were loaded with a walk to Josciel Veras. In his Major League rehab, Brennan Boesch stepped up to pinch hit and walked it off with an RBI double down the line.

The Bats won 3-2 in their final game of the season, the third straight season with a walk-off win. The win goes to righty Jimmy Moran (W, 1-0, 3.38) and the blown save to right-hander Blake Wood.
