Albuquerque Drops Second Straight, Falls to Vegas 7-2

April 26, 2016

The Isotopes (12-8) dropped their second in a row to the 51s (8-10), falling on Tuesday afternoon 7-2. After taking the first two games in the series, the Isotopes will have to head into the league-wide off day with a series split.

Both clubs' starting pitchers were dealing through the first three innings, keeping the ball game scoreless. The 51s were finally able to break through, striking first by plating a run in the bottom of the fourth.

As the Isotopes have been know to do this season, their offense immediately answered back in the top of the fifth inning, evening up the game on a heads-up baserunning play by last year's "Mr. Hustle" Tim Smalling.

Albuquerque starter Ryan Carpenter (1-2, 5.09) ran into trouble on the hill in the bottom of the sixth. The southpaw surrendered back-to-back home runs to the 51s, ultimately allowing three runs to score in the frame. Carpenter exited the ball game after tossing 6.0 innings while allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Unfortunately for the Isotopes, their offense was only able to cross the plate once more during the afternoon, with Joey Wong driving in Ryan Casteel on an RBI single in the top half of the seventh.

Albuquerque native Austin House made his second appearance for the Isotopes, coming into the game to pitch the bottom half of the seventh inning. The outing was a rough one for House as he allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits during the frame.

After tomorrow's off day, the Isotopes head back to Reno for the second and final time this season. During their last meeting, the Isotopes swept the Aces in four-games at Isotopes Park and have taken seven-straight over Reno. Eddie Butler (2-0, 4.09) will get the call for Albuquerque on Thursday evening and will be opposed by fellow right-hander Archie Bradley (2-1, 2.84). First pitch from Greater Nevada Field is set for 7:35 p.m.
